We have caught on cam the exact moment when a police officer was shot in the head and taken to the hospital in a grave and serious condition. This man is never going to be the same due to the actions of this cowardly criminal, and this is why “Blue Lives Matter” just as much as Black Lives, Hispanic Lives, Asian Lives, White Lives, or any other ethnic group for that matter. Two of the words that no one in law enforcement ever wants to hear would be “officer down.”
The bodycam footage caught this suspect as he shot a Daytona Beach cop in the heat, according to The Blaze. The police officer was doing nothing more than simply patrolling in his police cruiser.
“The officer was conducting a ‘proactive patrol’ just before 9 p.m. Wednesday,” a department spokesman said during that late June afternoon.
“The officer had earlier radioed that he was investigating a suspicious incident,” a tweet from the Daytona Beach police department noted.
“Upon arrival he contacted a coward…and as he was escorting him out of the car, at some point the suspect turned and shoots my officer in the head at least one time,” Daytona Police Chief Jakari Young stated.
“What’s going on?” the officer says as he is approaching the suspect.
“Several minutes passed and the officer stopped responding to other officers calling him on the radio.”
The police chief continued. “When officers arrived they found him lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a police statement.”
Chief Young noted that this fallen police officer had to have surgery due to the head trauma he received from the gunshot wound, and “it was fairly successful, but he still has a long way to go.
Chief Young also noted that the “whole entire county is on lockdown until we track down this coward.”
“There’s no question that I’m grateful for every agency that has responded over here tonight to help us as they’re committed to staying out there until we get this coward in custody.”
“A $100,000 reward is now available for anyone who can help authorities locate the man who shot one of our officers in the head earlier this evening,” Chief Young announced.
“The man we’re looking for is located in the video below,” the chief concluded. “His name is Othal Wallace and he is 29 years old.”
Viewer discretion alert: this shows the FULL scuffle, including the moment that the police officer is shot where you can hear that distinct POP! sound.
UPDATE: Three days after the suspect in this video shot this police officer and it was caught on cam, he was apprehended in a Georgia treehouse. The police officer who was shot in this video passed away after fighting for 55 days, and prosecutors are now seeking the death penalty in this case.
