WILD: Watch as Car Jacker Does Swan Dive Off Bridge

A wild car chase ended with a Florida man crashing a stolen vehicle and taking a swan dive off of a bridge in an attempt to evade arrest.

The police pursuit, which began and ended in Fort Myers, Florida, was captured on video from an aerial view.

The suspect, 34 year old Bryan Gray, was driving a stolen van while being pursued by the police. As the stolen vehicle reached the Edison Bridge, it can be seen dramatically swerving, ultimately crashing into a retaining barrier on the bridge.

Officers immediately swarmed the van, but Gray had already jumped out of the vehicle.

The suspect hesitated for just a moment before deciding to jump, choosing to take a wild swan dive into the Caloosahatchee River rather than take his chances with the police.

Unfortunately for him, the police weren’t going to just walk away. A Fort Myers police boat was deployed to the scene, pulling him from the water. Gray miraculously survived the dive from the bridge, which was approximately 55 feet above the water.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Gray is being charged with grand theft auto, along with fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
