The White House is fighting back against this impeachment as well as the narratives being spilled in the media with every tool it has.
For Kash Patel, the Senior Director of the National Security Council, this would mean a libel suit against Politico.
$25 Million Law Suit
The suit filed by Patel is against Politico as well as Politico and MSNBC reporter Natasha Bertrand and Politico owner Robert Allbritton.
The entire suit is centered around the Ukraine phone call and exactly what Trump was told.
On October 23, the publication published a story written by Bertrand with the headline “Nunes Protégé Fed Ukraine Info to Trump.”
Patel, in case you have not yet figured it out, used to work for Rep. Nunes (R-CA), a man that has defended Trump throughout this entire sham.
Patel has stated the story and ensuing tweets resulted in him being falsely accused of “lying, deceit and unethical conduct.”
Rep. Adam Schiff, while not formally named in the suit, is brought up in the complaint.
Patel describes Schiff as “a demagogue with an ax to grind against the president.”
He also claims that Schiff is grandstanding and ignoring the rules to interview witnesses in a way that will “create click-bait headlines and soundbites to feed to his co-conspirators and media sympathizers.”
According to the Politico story, it was Patel feeding Trump false information to push the Ukraine narrative.
Patel’s suit stated that prior to October 30, he had not “ever communicated with the president on any matters involving Ukraine.
“Kash never supplied any Ukraine ‘materials’ to the president.”
A follow up story to the October 23 piece was published on October 30, accusing Patel of misrepresenting himself “in an effort to involve himself further in Ukraine policy, according to two people familiar with his closed-door deposition.”
It also accused him of deceiving the president into thinking that Patel was the top Ukraine adviser at the NSC.
Just how far this goes will depend on how the court sees Patel.
If he is ruled to be a public figure, and chances are he will because he is a White House official, the suit will get tossed immediately, fake news or not.
If, however, Patel is deemed to be a “private individual,” as his suit claims, this could be significant trouble for Politico and a crushing blow to the media that currently prints anything negative it can find if it will hurt Trump regardless of whether or not the facts can be verified.
