White House Jousts with John Bolton

Former National Security Adviser John Bolton gave everyone a taste of things to come this week on Twitter.

Bolton re-activated his account after claiming the White House was trying to silence him.

White House Press Secretary, Stephanie Grisham, fired right back, hinting that Bolton’s old age was to blame for the problems Bolton was having on Twitter.

Suppressed Unfairly

Do not mistake the fact that Bolton did not testify before the House Intelligence Committee during the impeachment inquiry for Bolton being sympathetic to Trump.

Trump claims the two had a good relationship, but that is wishful thinking on the part of the president.

In reality, Trump and Bolton rarely saw eye-to-eye on foreign policy, which is why Bolton was eventually removed from his post.

In fact, many suspect Bolton to be behind some of the leaks that were coming out of the White House.

Bolton also hired his own personal attorney to fight the edict not to testify because he wants to tell his story to Congress.

The former NSA head claimed his Twitter account was more or less taken away from him by the Trump administration…

He also hinted that when he does finally talk, people will need to listen, because he plans on telling everything…

Bolton reportedly just signed a massive book deal, but there has been more than a bit of speculation that he had something to do both the whistleblower complaint AND the anonymous source within the administration that wrote that scathing op-ed in the Times as well as the recent anonymously penned tell-all about the administration, “A Warning.”

Personally, I would not be surprised if Bolton is anonymous.

Pushing Back

After Bolton sent out his tweets, Grisham immediately pushed back while making an appearance on Fox News.

Grisham stated, “Sometimes, I’ll use my father as an example, somebody who is of an advanced age may not understand that all you have to do is contact Twitter and reset your password if you’ve forgotten it, so I’ll just leave it at that.”

I get pushing back, but I am not a big fan of antagonizing someone that can and plans on speaking against you.

Bolton could be a real problem for Trump, especially considering his firsthand knowledge of what went down in Ukraine.

If he decides to enhance some of the facts, it is only going to give more fuel to the fodder Democrats are already spewing.

With word out on the street the IG report is going to be a big nothing burger other than some low-level indictments, Trump simply cannot afford more bad press than he is already getting.
