According to the Gastonia Police Dept. report, witnesses at the scene said that a rap music video was being filmed at the residence. During filming, the homeowner allegedly handed a gun to Lewis who fired the weapon, sending a bullet through a wall and into another room, where it struck the child, police said.
The 7-year-old was taken to an area hospital where she died this week.
Lewis was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, discharging a weapon into an occupied property and possession of a firearm by a felon. He now faces an additional count of second-degree murder.

Another black girl dead from gang violence in Chicago
Meanwhile in Chicago… Also known as “Chiraq” due to the insane murder rate between warring black gangs. The father of a 7-year-old girl killed at a McDonaldâs drive-thru in the West Side Sunday spoke publicly for the first time since the fatal shooting, saying, âI want my daughterâs killers locked up.â
The declaration comes one day after Jontae Adams, wounded in the Sunday afternoon shooting that claimed the life of Jaslyn âPinkyâ Adams, walked out of the hospital. Adams remains heartbroken over the loss of his daughter and angered by reports, he says, are assaulting his character as a father.
âSeem like itâs more pressed on me than the people who killed my baby,â he said at a vigil held in memory of Jaslyn. âMaking me hurt even more.â
At the vigil, the Adams family made the emotional plea for justice.
âSomeone needs to step up and talk,â said Lawanda McMullen, Jaslynâs grandmother. âThatâs a 7-year-old girl.â
Jontae and Jaslyn were in a McDonaldâs drive-thru in Homan Square Sunday when the car he was operating was shot up dozens of times. Jaslyn, shot six times, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Police have said Adams, who was shot in the stomach, was the intended target. No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
