We are finally starting to see Ron DeSantis in the national spotlight.
But there is a problem for his campaign.
The mainstream media will not let the narrative be about DeSantis, pushing Trump into the story to crush DeSantis.
What About Me
When Ron DeSantis agreed to sit down with CNN’s Jake Tapper, he more than likely figured this was a great opportunity to make his agenda known to the entire country.
While Tapper did ask DeSantis some questions on his agenda, the part of the interview that is getting all the attention is a question about Trump.
Tapper asked DeSantis if he thought Trump should be charged if there is criminality shown.
DeSantis responded, “Here is the problem. This country is going down the road of criminalizing political differences. And I think that’s wrong.
“Alvin Bragg stretched a statute in Manhattan to be able to try to target Donald Trump.
“Most people, even people on the left, acknowledge that if it wasn’t Trump, that case would not have likely been brought against a normal civilian.
“I don’t think it serves us good to have a presidential election focused on what happened four years ago in January.
“So I want to focus on looking forward.
“I don’t want to look back. I do not want to see him – I hope he doesn’t get charged, I don’t think it’ll be good for the country, but, at the same time, I’ve got to focus on looking forward and that’s what we’re going to do.”
When Tapper pressed specifically about a criminal element being found, DeSantis deflected…
This was considered a huge win by the Trump camp.
After relentless attacks, DeSantis is still sticking up for Trump, even trying to redefine criminal activity so as not to suffer the wrath of Trump.
From a campaign perspective, this was about as bad as it gets for DeSantis and about as good as it gets for Trump.
