Once again, a federal judge has proven to be more powerful than the President.
U.S. District Judge Michael Simon placed a temporary restraining order on yet another Trump immigration policy.
Protecting Taxpayers
One of the issues with so many immigrants flooding the country right now is that many of them cannot even afford to support themselves.
The Trump administration has been trying to put a merit-based system in place, but Democrats are trying to say that it is racist, even though numerous countries already use that process.
A roundabout way of doing that was for immigrants to prove they either have existing health care insurance or could pay for their own health care insurance once they were admitted into the country.
These individuals would have 30 days to meet this requirement.
The White House, when it introduced this measure, did so because of the abuse of “generous public health programs,” stating the abundance of immigrants coming into the country are only contributing to “uncompensated health care costs.”
Some liberal bleeding hearts and a non-profit, however, decided to sue to block the policy on the basis more than two-thirds of legal immigrants coming to the country would not meet that requirement.
Esther Sung, Justice Action Center counsel, stated, “We’re very grateful that the court recognized the need to block the health care ban immediately.
“The ban would separate families and cut two-thirds of green-card-based immigration starting tonight, were the ban not stopped.”
There Has to be a Cutoff
How much longer can this country continue to take in immigrants that immediately rely on public assistance?
It is estimated that 30 percent of immigrants currently rely on public health insurance.
With a little more than one million green cards being issued every year, that means more than 300,000 people are being put into the system every year, all on the taxpayer dime.
