Trey Gowdy was one of the most liked and respected politicians on the Hill when he was there, so his advice holds a lot of weight in the conservative world.

With all that is going on right now, especially after a few outbursts by Trump on social media, Gowdy just told Trump, “We’re gonna win right now. Don’t mess it up.”

Let’s Vote

Gowdy, like Senators Cruz and Graham have already professed, believes the record for the vote is already in place.

Gowdy stated, “I don’t see the Senators caring about what common law professors think if this president should be removed from office.

“Hearsay is ordinarily not admissible…

“The record is already complete, they’ve already called all their witnesses.”

He further added, “The record is already in, it’s full, let’s vote.

“Send it to the jury and take a vote…

“The President is not going to be removed from office, he’s not going to be indicted on these Articles.”

The Worst Place

The most telling part of that interview for me was how emphatic Gowdy was that Congress is not capable of holding an investigation properly.

That being the case, don’t allow the Senate to investigate the Biden’s through the impeachment, period.

Gowdy seems to believe appointing a special counsel or an independent investigation would offer far more benefit than allowing Congress to once again blunder an important investigation.

Many people, myself included, believe that it was Gowdy’s frustrations over the Hillary Clinton Benghazi investigation that led to him retiring from Congress.

Gowdy was furious that nobody is ever held accountable regardless of the recommendation of the congressional investigation and to that point, he has already gone on the record as saying he does not believe Comey will ever get indicted either.

He is dead-on about this, though, in that Trump has a clear victory, as long as nobody does anything stupid to mess it up.

I can’t help think what Gowdy is thinking right now, though, about Rudy Giuliani telling the New Yorker that he needed to get Ambassador Yovanovtich out of the way… I believe that would fall into the category of saying something stupid.
