One of the fixtures in the House for Democrats has received some rather tragic news today.
Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) has been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Decades-Long Representative
John Lewis has been in office since 1987.
During his time in office as well as his activism prior to taking his seat, he was and is considered a civil rights hero.
While conservatives surely do not like him or like his agenda, I doubt anyone would ever question his contribution on that front.
As a lawmaker, though, he is what I believe to be the problem in Washington, D.C.
The man has been in office for three decades, making a career out of a seat in Congress, surely not what our Founding Fathers envisioned when they designed our government.
So, while his health diagnosis is tragic, it will get some badly needed fresh blood into Congress.
If that statement offends anyone, well, tough, because I am not going to celebrate a man in death that I have railed against for years for his action as a U.S. Representative.
He has falsely accused Trump of being a racist and blamed Trump and conservatives for the hate that exists in this country, and that I cannot forgive.
Democrat Affection
As expected, Lewis received an outpouring of well-wishes from his fellow Democrats once the news started to travel…
If there’s one thing I love about @RepJohnLewis, it’s his incomparable will to fight. I know he’s got a lot more of that left in him. Praying for you, my friend.

Putting my personal feelings aside, I would not wish this horrible disease on my worst enemy.
So, while I look forward to new blood in the House, I would also wish Rep. Lewis well in this battle.
