Tito Ortiz Quits

UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz has resigned from his role as Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tem, citing hostility and threats against his family.

Giving Up

It’s no surprise that a town in the radical leftist hellhole of California would be hostile towards a man who worked to make a living and who stands up for the freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution. Ortiz has advocated against the government forcing people — especially children — to wear a mask, and that made the authoritarian leadership of Huntington Beach angry.

Less than four months into his role as mayor, the city council tried to remove Tito Ortiz from office with a vote of no confidence because of his stance on the COVID pandemic and his fight against mask wearing. Now, he has chosen to resign because of their hostility.

“This job isn’t working for me,” Ortiz, who was elected in November of 2020, stated.

“I was under the notion that I was in a bi-partisan position and that we all had a common goal that our city and our constituents could have. To put it frankly, that’s not the case,” the former UFC fighter said, reading from a prepared statement.

“From Day 1, I was sworn in and I was met with hostility and judgment,” Ortiz continued. “Being a public figure, nothing is new. However, to be the sole focus of character assassination each and every week, with multiple news stories and leaked personal information – all of which were in hopes to slander and defame my name.”

“I thought I was up to this job, but I knew I had over 40,000 constituents who were there counting on me. As of recent, the attacks against me moved to involve my family. I now feel (that) their safety is in danger. To put it simply, this job isn’t working for me,” he added.

The Bottom Line

California is a lost cause.

Some conservatives continue to live there and try to fight to take it back, but it seems pointless.

Even when the state’s left-wing citizens complain about taxation and homelessness, they continue to vote for people who will increase taxes and do nothing to fix the homeless problem.

Though giving up is not the best strategy, Ortiz is right to do so. Why try to help people who don’t want to be helped?
