Well, apparently things have turned deadly at your neighborhood Golden Corral, and no I’m not talking about your cholesterol and weight increasing due to overeating either. Just take a look at what happened at one of these fine dining establishments in Florida.
It looks like a suspect shot and killed himself Thursday afternoon at the plaza parking lot just off the West Ninth Street intersection in Pensacola as the authorities were attempting to serve an arrest warrant, according to deputies.
This unfortunate incident occurred at about 2 p.m. at the Golden Corral restaurant over by Langley Avenue and Ninth Avenue, right next to the Golden Corral parking lot.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said that the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force had been serving an ECSO warrant on a suspect who also had two outstanding warrants for a litany of armed burglaries and several different firearm charges.
Once the deputies from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department approached the suspect, he immediately revealed that he had a firearm and then took his own life. I suppose if Pearl Jam is still touring they could write a song about this, but I digress…
The U.S. Marshal’s Office continues to investigate this incident, and the identity of the suspect has not been released to the public.
Golden Corral is an American restaurant chain that was conceived by William F. Carl and James Maynard in 1971 when they were unsuccessful in purchasing other established restaurant franchises. The first Golden Corral opened in 1973 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The company now has 498 locations across the United States, with 100 of them being company-owned and the rest being franchised. The gross sales for this chain are over $1.5 billion. The basic premise of the Golden Corral restaurant is an all-you-can-eat buffet throughout the restaurant. Although they suffered somewhat during the pandemic, they are still going strong, and hopefully, this location will recover from this unfortunate incident as well.
