Whiny leftists have found a new target for their cancel culture: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The Atlantic, a trash left-wing publication, referred to the Christmas movie as â55 minutes of Christmas-crushing despair.â
As leftists believe President Trump is on his way out, and are now desperate for something new to complain about, one particular writer has decided to target a childrenâs movie.
Caitlin Flanagan, the author of this article, begins with discussing her feelings. Referring to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Flanagan said: âThe special produced in me only a fretful anxiety, leading to an eventual refusal to watch it.â
Miss Flanagan goes on to analyze the ‘injustices’ of the 1964 classic. One of her first outrageous statements involves Santa Claus. âSanta, it turns out, presides over a nonunion shop where underproducing elves are deprived of breaks and humiliated; they dream not of Christmas, but of escape,â she wrote.
It gets worse, as she provides her expert analysis of the true meaning behind the childrenâs movie. âOne of the numerous readings of the show is that it is a parable about the hardship faced by gay kids in mid-century America, many of whom were rejected by their fathers, their peers, and their teachers,â Flanagan wrote.
âThis theory is reified back at Santaâs little forced-labor camp. We are supposed to understand that blond, dreamy-eyed Hermey wants to be a dentist, not a toy maker. (What he really wants to do, in my opinion, is join the drama club, but that might have been too much for NBC.) Foreman Elfâwho, come the revolution, will not be dealt with kindlyâhumiliates him repeatedly. When Hermey tells him, tentatively, that he doesnât want to make toys, Foreman Elf repeats the phrase in the âsissyâ voice that has haunted gay boys down through the ages. âShame on you!â cry the other elves, further demoralizing Hermey,â her analysis continues.
âElves in Santaâs workshop are not supposed to be shamed, gay-bashed, and forced to run away! What kind of bullshit was this? And how could the Kool-Aid drinkers look at their Christmas toys in the same way, knowing that they might be covered in the tears of an exploited and brokenhearted elf?â Flanagan adds.
Of course, Flanagan knows that thereâs no way she could be wrong in her analysis. âNo one I knew shared my strong feelings about Rudolph, but that was okay; I was used to being the odd kid out. And, for once in my life, I knew I wasnât the one with the problem,â she concluded.
Once again, the left targets Christmas. First it was the song “Baby It’s Cold Outside”, and now Rudolph. It’s time for conservatives to start fighting back in the culture war, instead of simply shaking their heads at the deranged left who are trying to erase everything that hurts their delicate feelings.
