When Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) first became House Speaker, she vowed she would not openly support impeachment unless it was a bipartisan effort.
Recently, that all changed, and when Pelosi announced her support and the vote was taken to move forward with the inquiry, not a single Republican voted in favor and several Democrats voted against it.
So, why did Nancy go forward anyway? There are two big reasons and they both center around power.
Reason #1
For all the lauding Democrats do over The Squad, the fact of the matter is the establishment does not want to give up power to the new generation of Democrats.
They can’t do that because they know if they do, the radical platforms will end up devasting the party.
AOC is good for social media and news clippings but even Democrats know her policies are far too radical.
Even so, the Democrat establishment cannot allow a major movement from within the party.
So, even though Pelosi may not have wanted to move forward, she did so anyway to pacify the new breed of Democrat in the House.
This conclusion was recently backed up by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who stated, “[B]ear in mind, Nancy Pelosi did not want to go through this process unless there was bipartisan support for it.
“She made plenty of public statements last year to that effect.
“But she is at risk of losing her speakership because Nancy Pelosi, believe it or not, is considered to be too conservative by the majority of the members of the Democratic conference in the House of Representatives.”
Reason #2
Something I have suspected and written about on numerous occasions was that I also believed the impeachment was only going to move forward IF Democrats could implicate VP Pence in the process.
This would allow them to remove both Trump and Pence, putting Pelosi in the White House as the 46th President of the United States.
If you read the House Intelligence impeachment report, buried deep inside that report is a line doing just that.
The report states that Pence, as well as other high-ranking officials in the administration, knew that Trump was putting pressure on President Zelensky.
The report hangs on the words of Ambassador Sondland, who stated numerous times that everyone was in the loop on the quid pro quo, including Mike Pence.
Pence has already pushed back on the Sondland testimony, stating he never met with Sondland to discuss this.
The reality is that Sondland made a lot of assumptions, including the quid pro quo because he was told directly by Trump “no quid pro quo, I don’t want anything.”
That is not going to stop Democrats, however, from pushing this narrative.
They want to get Pelosi into that office for two reasons.
First, if they impeach both Pence and Trump, there is virtually no way Republicans can mount a successful run at the presidency by the time the impeachments would go through.
Second, even if she is only in office for a day, she can and will issue executive orders to destroy everything Trump has put in place.
Call it a conspiracy if you want, but this is a very real threat and it is all laid out right before our eyes in the impeachment report.
All you need to do is read between the lines to see what Democrats really want out of this impeachment… power.
