The couple of times that I have had to go to New York City I hated every last solitary second of the trip.
Going to New York City for someone like me from a small town, and grew up in a different small town was like going to an amusement park where you have to be there at all day but at random a person could come up and punch you in the face.
It was downright awful. Everything smelled like pee and cigarettes mixed together.
However, I will say that from a historical perspective, the city does have its merits.
If you still to the museums I suppose a trip to the city wouldn’t be out of order.
Or if you just like seeing really strange and creepy stuff. I made the mistake of walking through Times Square one afternoon and saw this guy on a box yelling at people nonstop for fifteen minutes. The lungs this man had on him.
I also saw a building in New York that absolutely blew my away.
New York City has a lot of very tall buildings. All of these buildings had thousands of windows. Except one.
Located at 33 Thomas Street, there is a forty story building with no windows. Not a single solitary one.
As a matter of fact, it sticks out like a chicken inside a lion enclosure at the zoo. It just screams that it does not belong in its surroundings.
It also screams mystery. I mean, if you had never seen this building before, and hadn’t been told the story you would think that it was some sort of structure so that secret government activity could go on in the city.
Hell, it actually looks a little like that building from the movie Men in Black.
Known as the Long Lines Building, it was originally built and designed to hold the telephone switching equipment for AT&T.
Put simply, if you lived in that area and had to make a phone call, chances are this was the building the call was routed through.
Over the years though, the building did hold some cloak-and-dagger-style activity. In 2016, it was revealed that the building housed at one time a secret headquarters for the NSA.
All I know is that this building is as spooky as all heck.
