Investigative reporter and documentary filmmaker Joel Gilbert has spent the past year investigating what he calls “the elephant in the room” – Michelle Obama’s gender identity.
His latest film, “Michelle Obama 2024: Her Real Life Story and Plan for Power,” looks into her life story and her extensive political ambitions.

The rumors surrounding Michelle Obama’s gender began as far back as 1994 when she registered to vote as a male.
The truth behind this voter registration card was uncovered by Gilbert who had seen it with his own eyes; it was not photoshopped or an Internet meme.
But why would someone register themselves as a different gender than they actually are?
Even today this remains a mystery but some believe it could be linked to her complicated racial identity which may have led to confusion over her true gender identity – something that shaped how she became insecure in later life.
Late comedian Joan Rivers gave new life to these rumors when she referred to Mrs. Obama as a “transvestite” during one of her stand-up shows shortly before she passed away in 2014 – adding even more drama and intrigue around this topic!
So could there be any basis for these claims? Is there really any evidence backing up these theories?
After looking at all available evidence Mr. Gilbert came away without finding much proof but did say that he found no reason not believe Mrs. Obama is actually female either – leaving us still none-the-wiser about whether or not these claims hold any real weight.
