McConnell Says He Has the Votes

McConnell

While the Iran situation is unfolding, we still have an impeachment to deal with.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is still trying to hijack the Senate trial, but Senate Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY) just gave Pelosi some pretty bad news.

When asked about the support to move forward, McConnell stated, ā€œWe have the votes.ā€

What About Witnesses?

While McConnell does have the votes to start the impeachment, when it comes to the calling of witnesses, that is a different story.

McConnell stated, “Fifty-oneĀ senators determine what we do and there will be, I’m sure, intense discussion, once we get past phase one, about the whole witness issue.ā€

We already know Senator Romney (R-UT) would like to speak to at least one witness, so to some extent, McConnell will have to allow witnesses.

However, he will be able to limit the Democrat witness list, just as Democrats did in the House.

John Bolton seems to be the key witness and he has already announced that he is willing to testify.

Bolton was present at some key meetings surrounding the alleged quid pro quo, but nobody has a clue as to what he is going to say.

On Bolton, Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) recently stated, “Given that Mr. Boltonā€™s lawyers have stated he has new relevant information to share, if any Senate Republican opposes issuing subpoenas to the four witnesses and documents we have requested they would make absolutely clear they are participating in a cover-up.ā€

What Happened to Rudy?

Something I have personally found very interesting is that Rudy Giuliani has suddenly disappeared from the headlines.

Giuliani made a rather stupid move by appearing on One America News Network to tout his ā€œevidenceā€ against Joe Biden.

After that appearance, Senator Graham (R-S.C.) offered to allow him to testify before the Senate, but Graham also warned him he better be bringing legitimate evidence.

Since then, we have heard virtually nothing out of Giuliani, which, honestly, is probably a good thing for Trump.

I absolutely believe Biden bent some rules, but I also happen to think Giuliani was dealing with people that would tell him whatever he wanted to hear.

We need a legitimate investigation into Biden by an independent investigator that will truly allow us to get to the bottom of this.

This is an investigation that must happen soon, however, because Bidenā€™s actions will only help in Trumpā€™s Senate defense during this impeachment.
