Justice Ginsburg Rushed to Hospital

Ruth Bader Ginsburg

The most polarizing Supreme Court Justice of our time appears to be having some health problems again.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was taken to Sibley Memorial in D.C. Friday night, but she was later transferred to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD for treatment.

Is It Serious?

That is always the question with Ginsburg simply because of her age.

The woman has had four bouts with cancer, has fallen several times, and now this.

Any medical issue at this age can be life-threatening, but especially for someone whose system has been beaten down over the years.

Honestly, when I saw the initial headline that she had gone into the hospital for the treatment of “chills and fever,” I didn’t think it was that big of a deal.

It would make sense with Ginsburg’s history and age to play it safe and go to the hospital.

However, what raised an eyebrow for me is the fact that she was taken from the local hospital and sent to Johns Hopkins.

If this were just normal “chills and fever,” she could be treated at any hospital in the country, so why the need to transfer her to one of the most respected medical institutions in the entire country?

Recent Concerns

Ginsburg’s recent fall revealed that the Justice needed to have surgery for lung cancer.

While her recovery went well, Ginsburg has been under the weather more recently.

Ginsburg missed a day of work on November 13 when she was not present for arguments for what was described as a “stomach bug.”

She was, however, back in court on November 18.

Ginsburg’s office is saying that she should be okay, stating, “With intravenous antibiotics and fluids, her symptoms abated and she expects to be released from the hospital as early as Sunday morning.”

I may not be a fan of Ginsburg, but I certainly wish her no ill will, and, hopefully, this truly is precautionary and she will be back on the bench soon.
