The House Judiciary Committee argued the articles of impeachment until almost midnight last night.
Just before midnight, Nadler decided to halt the meeting to conduct the vote today, more than likely so it would be covered better by the media.
At 10:10 a.m. EST, the House Judiciary, along party lines, concluded its vote and passed two articles of impeachment against the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.
The Kangaroo Court
The House Judiciary Committee had two very long days constructing the articles of impeachment.
At 11:15 p.m. Thursday night, the procedural aspect of the impeachment was over, but the vote on passing the articles of impeachment still needed to be done.
Chairman Nadler, in his infinite wisdom, decided to delay the vote until Friday morning.
While Nadler stated he wanted everyone to think long and hard before casting their vote, it was quite clear why Nadler wanted the vote delayed.
At that time of night, there was very little coverage of the hearing.
If he delayed the vote until morning, he would get national press coverage and could dominate the headlines on Friday.
Rep. Collins (R-GA) was furious, openly calling him out for not consulting the ranking minority member.
While calling the entire procedure a “kangaroo court,” Collins and many members of Congress were furious, especially due to scheduling issues for every member…
The Party Line Vote
Impeachment should be a partisan vote.
While we would never expect every member of the party undergoing in the impeachment to agree, there should be enough members voting in favor of the measure to evoke confidence in Americans that the right thing is being done.
That did not happen here.
The vote came down right along the party line, with every Democrat voting in favor and every Republican recording a “no” vote.
From here, the articles will be presented to the House Speaker to be introduced to the floor for debate and vote, which should happen next week.
There is officially no backing out now and Democrats are all in.
They don’t seem to realize it, but they have just about guaranteed that Donald J. Trump will win re-election.
At every step, this has been a complete disgrace and the move last night by Nadler was just one of a dozen or more missteps he has made throughout this process.
