The attacks against President Trump are about to get worse after another whistleblower has come forward, this time from the Department of Health and Human Services.
According to the whistleblower complaint, more than a dozen workers were improperly deployed to military bases in California that were receiving Americans being evacuated due to the coronavirus.
The Complaint
According to the whistleblower, she brought her concerns up to HHS officials and they were ignored.
She then stated that officials threatened to fire her on February 15 if she did not want to take her new assignment.
The whistleblower then stated that these workers that had been deployed without the proper training or protective gear had been walking around freely in public.
Her attorney, Lauren Naylor, stated, “We are hopeful that Congress and the OSC [the U.S. Office of the Special Counsel] will investigate this case in a timely and comprehensive manner.
“This matter concerns HHS’s response to the coronavirus, and its failure to protect its employees and potentially the public. The retaliatory efforts to intimidate and silence our client must be opposed.”
The office of the special counsel has confirmed that it has received the complaint and that it has already been assigned for investigation.
The Concern
If this complaint is accurate, we should all be very concerned.
One of the reasons cited in China for the pandemic level of the outbreak is that workers were not wearing protective gear during the early stages of the virus.
It is a bit more concerning as well due to the fact we now have the first official case in California by someone that had not traveled internationally.
California Governor Newsom stated, “Everybody in this country is rightfully anxious about this moment.
“I think they should know we are meeting this moment with the kind of urgency that is necessary and I don’t want to over-extend the anxiety.”
Newsom has already been critical of the preparedness levels, stating that they had only received about 200 testing kits so far, which he called “simply inadequate.”
Federal officials have stated, though, that more kits are on their way.
Even with this latest case, health officials are maintaining that at this time, we are at a “low risk” for exposure.
Again, we are the ones on the front line of this problem so if you are feeling sick, do not go to work, stay home and make an appointment with your doctor ASAP.
