Man Arrested After He Was Caught On Video Putting A Woman’s Body In A Dumpster In Colorado
A grainy video of a man driving up to a dumpster by a car wash went viral. The video shows the man opening the trunk of a car on Friday morning. He took something out and threw it in the dumpster, and closed the lid and drove off.
Officers immediately called on the public for help, the incident happened in Pueblo, 90 miles south of Denver. Police responded to the dumpster, after someone found the large suitcase in the dumpster.
The officers who responded to Ivywood Lane near S. Pueblo Blvd, thought at first it could be some sort of Halloween prop. Upon closer inspection of the bag, they saw a lot of blood, and hair, then realized it was the body of a dead woman.
Police went to nearby surveillance cameras, and saw a man on camera throwing the bag with a suit case inside it, into the same dumpster. The entire dumpster was towed away to a police facility.
Police announced on Saturday that an arrest was made, the suspect has been identified as Antonio Cuevas. The woman had a very distinct tattoo of a clown on her body.The identity of the woman has not yet been made public due to police trying to locate relatives.
Man Arrested Antonio Cuevas Was On Parole & Had An Outstanding Warrant Out
Arrested with Cuevas was his wife who had a warrant out for criminal impersonation. Melanie Ann Cuevas and Antonio, both 36, of Pueblo, are now in custody. Mr. Cuevas, will be arraigned on Monday, he will be charged with first degree murder.
The car Cuevas was driving was a small dark four door car. The surveillance camera from the car wash, and a nearby apartment building captured Cuevas throwing the suitcase with the body into the dumpster.
Shortly after the video started to run on the news, the police started receiving several phone calls. Police made contact with the couple about 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The couple were taken into custody on Saturday in the northern part of Pueblo at Adolfo’s Taco stand near 1-50.
A witness who was at the taco stand when police arrived, said the male Cuevas put up a fight. Officers had to use a taser to restrain him, according to onlookers, the wife went willingly into the squad car.
Family Of Dead Woman Say That The she Was The Mother Of Antonio
Although the police have not formally identified the name of the woman found in the suitcase. Her family members have said it was the mother of Cuevas who was murdered.
The family has set up a Go-Fund-me page, to help with her funeral expenses. The niece of the woman said her aunt’s name is, Mary Largets, and both Antonio and Melanie Cuevas had a hand in killing her.
The niece said that she was grateful for everyone that reached out to her, and shared her posts. She said she is praying that Mary’s piece of s*** son and daughter in law are brought to justice.
She also said that she hopes that her ‘Auntie’ can have some peace now, “she didn’t deserve what happened to her”. Police have said they can’t confirm the reports from the family members, but did not say their information is incorrect.
The family was able to identify Largets due to her unusual tattoo that was released by police. An autopsy is pending to determine cause of death.
