Former FBI Director James Comey did an explosive interview this morning on Fox News with Chris Wallace.

Comey finally admitted his agency screwed up during the FISA process, but he also tried to worm his way out of any blatant misdoings.

When asked about the IG’s assessment of the FBI’s FISA warrants, Comey stated, “He’s right, I was wrong.

“I was overconfident as director in our procedures.”

Chickening Out

It was clear from the outset that Comey was in damage control.

The fact that he appeared with Wallace says a lot.

Both Bret Baier and Sean Hannity offered to let Comey come onto their respective shows, but Comey decided to go with Wallace, a liberal, where he figured he would get the kid-glove treatment.

To Wallace’s credit, he did not let Comey off the hook and called him out numerous times during the interview for mischaracterizing what was said in the IG report.

While he was not as tough as I believe Hannity or Baier would have been, he still did a good job.

But THAT But

Rather than give truthful answers, Comey merely tried to justify or belittle everything that was done wrong during this investigation.

Where it became evident that Comey was doing nothing more than spinning was when he discussed how influential a role the Steele dossier explained.

Comey was trying to spin words or say that he and the IG did not necessarily agree on the definitions of certain words, which is when Wallace really let him have it.

Here is the full interview…

The real problem here, though, is that nothing will ever be done to the people that allowed this to happen.

Some of the agents involved in the case will no doubt end up either indicted, fired, or with a letter of reprimand in their files by the time Durham is done with his investigation, but what about Comey and the other top dogs at the FBI that allowed this to happen?

Comey will be embarrassed for a bit in the media, but that is about as bad as it will ever get for him, and that is exactly what is wrong with this entire system.

No matter what they do, the people at the top ALWAYS get away with it.

Until that changes, we simply cannot have faith in our political or justice systems.
