Chick-fil-A Just Did the Unthinkable

Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A, a fast-food chain that has been notoriously conservative and Christian-rooted in the past, is about to see a significant dip in sales due to a rather radical turn on its charitable platform.

The chain, which has been ferociously defended by the right, is cutting off charitable groups like the Salvation Army because of their “non-traditional values.”

Betraying the Right

For as long as I can remember, Chick-fil-A has always been associated with conservative and Christian beliefs.

The restaurants are even closed on Sunday so employees can go to church and spend time with their family members.

The company has also been persecuted by the left for its beliefs, but that is something the company is apparently working to halt.

As it turns out, many of the beliefs the company touts are nothing more than a front, as the money trail from the organization tells a far different story.

When Did This Happen?

I will be honest… when I first saw the reporting on this, I thought it was a hoax or something from The Onion, but it is actually true.

Chick-fil-A has cut off organizations like the Salvation Army because it has hardline Christian stances, something the restaurant chain is now distancing itself from.

Not only that, the organization is making a very hard left in terms of the organizations it is now supporting.

For instance, rather than donate to the Salvation Army, Chick-fil-A wrote a check for $50,000 for The Pace Center for Girls.

This is a pro-choice organization, but it is not the only pro-choice organization Chick-fil-A is now supporting.

It has also donated to the YMCA and Chris 180, which is “a pro-LGBT behavioral health and child welfare service agency.”

The Vice President of Corporate Responsibility and Executive Director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation, Rodney Bullard, recently addressed the situation.

He stated, “We don’t want our intent and our work to be encumbered by someone else’s politics or cultural war.

“If something gets in the way of our mission, that is something that we are mindful of and cognizant of.”

Christian faith leaders are already calling for a boycott of the company altogether.

President of the Family Research Council, Tony Perkins, stated, “Not only has Chick-fil-A abandoned donations to Christian groups including the Salvation Army, it has donated to one of the most extreme anti-Christian groups in America.

“Anyone who opposes the SPLC … is slandered and slapped with the ‘extremist’ label or even worse, their ‘hate group’ designation.

“It’s time for Christians to find a fast-food alternative to Chick-fil-A.”

Ironically, in its efforts to pacify the left, the fast-food chain has alienated about half the country.
