CA Woman Finds Out What Happened to Her Missing USAF Commander Husband After 5 Decades

For 54 years, Joyce De Soto has been wondering what happened to her husband.

She and U.S. Air Force Col. Ernest Leo De Soto were high school sweat hearts.

However, the Colonel disappeared during the Vietnam War in 1969.

Joyce finally found out what happened to her husband.

The Discovery

The two had been married for 12 years at the time the Colonel disappeared.

Was he dead or captured? She had no idea.

At 90 years old, Joyce finally gets closure on something that has been hanging over her head for 50 years.

As it turns out, the Colonel did crash into a mountain ridge during a mission in 1969.

Several years ago, a piece of bone was discovered on the range.

After finally being identified, it was revealed that the bone contained the DNA of Colonel De Soto.

His remains were identified in March, and he was returned home on June 29.

His widow, Joyce, stated, “It’s closure.

“He’s here, he didn’t suffer.

“He was killed in the airplane, which I have never known.”

Colonel De Soto will now get the military burial and recognition he deserves and his wife finally gets closure on the ordeal.
