Imagine a world without Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. You turn on your television without assault by her special blend of lunacy and idiocy. No longer politically relevant, AOC slinks back to the sidelines and returns to obscurity.
That is a nice dream.
But better yet, it may not be just a Conservative pipe dream, after all. In fact, the new census just may put the new face of Democratic socialism out of a job.
Will There Be Redistricting?
According to projections, up to 16 states could see a change in the number of Congressional Districts it has. Specific to AOC, New York State is expected to lose two.
That means that New York politicians may want to completely redraw the state’s Congressional map. And because her District, which includes the Bronx and parts of Queens, has the highest rate of non-citizen residents in the state, AOC is particularly vulnerable.
More than a quarter of the constituents that Ocasio-Cortez represents are not U.S. citizens.
AOC Upsets the Democrat Establishment
There also may be factors working against AOC behind the scenes, as well.
The 30-year-old freshman Representative is part of a far-Left squad of rogues that includes Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.
These women are known as firebrands who often break with the centrist message of their Party to push their own agendas. For example, AOC was the only Democrat to vote against the coronavirus economic stimulus bill.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has publicly scolded AOC in the past, for too often playing the race and victim cards. Pelosi also hints that AOC social media following causes her to overestimate her own importance.
“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world, but they didn’t have any following (within the Democratic Party). They’re four people,” Pelosi said.
