The long-awaited, much-anticipated announcement has finally happened.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has finally announced her endorsement for a 2020 presidential candidate and the winner is… Bernie Sanders.
While the endorsement of AOC for Bernie Sanders means nothing to conservatives, it will dramatically impact this primary race.
To this point, Bernie Sanders has been unable to garner support from anywhere other than his natural base.
The endorsement by AOC changes all that because her supporters follow her commands like sheep.
Bernie has always been considered a front-runner, but he has never been able to get himself above that 15-16 percent mark in most polls.
This endorsement will give him the much-needed boost he needs to become a legitimate contender in the primary race.
AOC is backing Bernie because she credits him with her own beginnings in politics.
She stated, “It wasn’t until I heard of a man by the name of Bernie Sanders that I began to question and assert and recognize my inherent value as a human being that deserves health care, housing, education, and a living wage.”
What It Means for Biden and Warren
Everyone knew AOC was not going to endorse Biden, but Warren was very much in the running.
For Biden, this means a lot of the money that has been sitting on the sidelines will go into another bank other than Biden’s.
This is not good for Biden because his campaign only has a reported $9 million left in the chest and they are overspending at a 112 percent rate.
Biden even sent out a desperate email to his supporters begging for money because his campaign is just about broke.
For Warren, the implications are also significant.
Warren has just taken the lead away from Biden in some polls but some of her base may now actually leave her to go to Sanders.
Had Warren gotten this endorsement, she would have been able to crush Biden, now it makes this a true three-horse race.
Meanwhile, as conservatives, we just get to sit back and watch these three slug it out, spending their war chests to beat each other rather than Donald Trump.
