For several days now, Trump has been getting raked over the coals for an intelligence report that claimed the Russians were helping him.
Well, as it turns out, the intelligence report that was given to Congress was enhanced, and every major network that reported on it, including CNN, MSNBC, and the New York Times, have egg on their face for putting out fake news.
The Report
Last week, the intelligence community held a briefing for the House Intelligence Committee on Russian election interference.
No sooner had that briefing been given when reports were leaked to the media about the Russians helping Trump.
The New York Times led the charge, quickly followed by other outlets, with an MSNBC anchor actually calling Trump a Russian agent.
There were also reports that Trump was livid and trying to cover up the information as well as Republicans being furious over the report.
It was a bad look for Trump and House Republicans, to say the least.
The REAL Report
The next day, top national intelligence officials pushed back, admitting the briefer mischaracterized the information.
Yes, they did believe the Russians were trying to interfere, but they had no evidence that the Russians were directly trying to help Trump.
CNN was among the first networks to report the discrepancy, which immediately vindicated Trump.
Then the truth also started to come out about what really happened with both Trump and the Republicans at the meeting.
Those attending the meeting were upset because they did not believe the intelligence they were given pointed to the Russians helping Trump.
Furthermore, Trump was not upset about the report but rather the fact he learned about it secondhand from Congress rather than in his own intelligence briefing.
As the dust is settling, it really looks like Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is hand-feeding the media these stories to make Trump look bad and it is time he is held accountable.
William Barr must immediately hold an investigation to find this leak, plug it, and hold the person accountable to the full extent of the law.
