Gunmen NYC New York City Shooting

The NYPD are searching for at least two gunmen responsible for a shooting in Brooklyn. Six people were injured and one person was killed. New York City is out of control.

The shooting took place around 11:15 p.m. at an apartment complex on Albany Avenue in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. Investigators believe the shooting was connected to another shooting that took place just a few hours earlier during a Sweet 16 party in East New York.

In the first shooting, a 17-year-old boy was wounded in the leg. The second shooting appeared to be in retaliation and a 20-year-old woman was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. Six others were hit with bullets, all between the ages of 14 and 20. They are expected to survive.

New York city is completely out of control. Shooting incidents are up 95% from the same time last year. Many involved in the violence are just teenagers. You would think hospitals would be overwhelmed by Covid-19 patients in 2020, but that’s not the case. Police, paramedics and hospital staff are working around the clock due to a surge in shooting victims.

One New York paramedic described a typical night of work. A young man shot in the back of the head in Queens, his pulse fading as he takes his last breathes in the back of a speeding ambulance. “We do everything we can, and sometimes they come back, and sometimes they don’t, and this time, he didn’t,” said the paramedic who is based at FDNY EMS Station 50 in Jamaica, Queens.

Another EMT told reporters that they’re used to busy summer nights, but this year was a whole different level. “We know how to handle high call volume,” said EMT Ciara Ortiz, 29, who works at EMS Station 16 at Harlem Hospital. “If I was to use one word to describe this year: Just chaos. Everyone is just overwhelmed.

I’ve never seen anything like this in the 25 years I’ve been here. We have people who are breaking down mid-tour and going home sick because the trauma has been too much from what’s been happening the last few months, both from COVID and crime.” With crime rising and the economy crashing, many are questioning why they are living in New York City.
